AmeriCorps Conserving Iowa Lands

Through the Bur Oak Land Trust AmeriCorps program, members serve year-round to improve Iowa’s lands and ecosystems, provide environmental education to encourage continued care for nature, and strengthen community connections to the outdoors.

These dedicated individuals provide invaluable services for the outdoors on Bur Oak preserves, and lands within Johnson County and throughout eastern Iowa. Members receive a monthly stipend, training, certifications, networking opportunities and critical field experience.

Since 2019, the AmeriCorps program has enrolled 50+ members who completed more than 55,000 hours of service, served in 19 Iowa counties, and improved more than 400 acres of land per year.
