Connect with Nature to Unite with Family
Sun shining in a brilliant blue sky, flowers blooming, children laughing, birds chirping, and the creek bubbling. Those were the sights and sounds of Family Day at Turkey Creek Preserve last Sunday, May 22nd.
Why are these days outside important?
Because taking the time to connect with nature actually allows each of us to connect more deeply with each other and with ourselves. And it’s not only the kids who benefited from this fun outdoor experience – with Bur Oak Land Trust, Taproot, and U of I Recreational Services – but also the adults. Who doesn’t also get a kick out of seeing their kids in the creek, catching minnows and crawdads, and asking questions with squeals of excitement?
Summer now seems to be here to stay, and there are so many great opportunities to get out and enjoy nature in all its glory. Bur Oak Land Trust has a fantastic Music on the Prairie event coming up July 9th at Belgum Grove and we have another Family Day event (also at Belgum Grove) September 18th.
See you there!
