Tribute Gifts

Give a gift in memory or in honor of someone special. If it is applicable a card will be sent to the honoree or family for the memorial.

Gifts of stock

When you transfer stock to Bur Oak, it is sold to provide funding for our work across eastern Iowa. Please notify us if you plan to make a gift of stock so that we can attribute the gift to you and send you an acknowledgement tax receipt. For more information on how to complete the transfer, please contact our office at 319-338-7030.

Qualified distributions

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a distribution from your IRA (other than a SEP or SIMPLE IRA) directly to a qualified charitable organization, such as Bur Oak Land Trust.

This option is available to people over the age of 70 ½. The dollar amount of the gift may be excluded from your taxable income up to a maximum of $100,000 annually, with some exceptions.

Please consult your tax advisor for information regarding your specific exceptions.

Employer Matching Contributions

Many companies have a matching gift program, such as Benevity, to support employee interests and demonstrate their commitment to the community.

Ask your HR department for a matching gift form with your contribution. Looking to get out of the office and volunteer?  Ask about individual or group volunteer opportunities.

Legacy & Planned gifts

Planned giving offers you a way to support what you care about—now and into the future. Our future programs depend on the partnerships we form today.

A legacy, or planned, gift allows you to leave a conservation legacy and help sustain the work of Bur Oak Land Trust, while also meeting your individual financial and estate planning goals. Depending on the gift arrangement and your circumstances, you may be able to avoid capital gains taxes, reduce your estate taxes, or receive an income tax charitable deduction in a variety of ways.

Please join others who have demonstrated their commitment to Iowa’s future and become a member of the Land Trust’s Legacy, for more information – Planned Giving
